The official presentation of the special edition 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Performance Concept was at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. There is a noticeable difference in design from standard models, but the main surprise is the propulsion system. Still not yet known whether it will have a serial production, so there is no information about the launch date of the market. There is a possibility to be a model for 2019, as well as to change the name in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado SS. Of course, the main rivals will be Ford, RAM and Toyota pickup models.
Available is only Satin Steel Gray with vinyl graphics details. The radiator grille and bumpers are in the body color, and are noticeable air ducts in the hood and front bumper, as well as plenty of black bowtie emblems. In addition to daytime LED lights, there are smoked headlamps and taillamps. Although there is no information about the interior design, there are certain components: extremely comfortable leather seats; black suede telescopic steering wheel; automatic climate control. It will surely have a Chevrolet MyLink interface, probably with an 8-inch touch screen.
Exterior dimensions of Performance Concept and weight are still unknown. Also, there is no information about towing capacity and payload. Mounted on 22-inch black aluminum wheels with 22-inch performance tires. The concept car has a crew cab with four doors, designed to accommodate five or six passengers.
These full-size pickup trucks will have a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, combined probably with a 8-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to the Chevrolet Performance LT4-style intercooled supercharger system, the standard 5.3-liter V8 EcoTec3 engine gets more than 100 hp. Also, this system uses the Camaro ZL1 and Corvette Z06 models. In addition, it has a cat-back exhaust system with polished tips, a cold-air induction system and a six-piston Brembo brake kit. It has been announced that it will have close to 460 hp and 480 lb-ft (651 Nm) of torque. For acceleration from 0 to 62 mph it takes just over 6 seconds, while the maximum speed is up to 155 mph (249 km/h).
Since the serial production of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Performance Concept is still under question, we can not determine the price of this model. Certainly, a significantly stronger engine means a much higher cost price, probably more than $ 50,000.
